Wishing you a safe and happy 2023

21 December 2022

Our communities across Victoria have demonstrated such great resilience in 2022 and continue the hard, yet rewarding work of community led action.

Countless hours of volunteer time have been put into all the VRAN programs and the countless rabbit management programs across Victoria. Your tireless efforts have made our landscape significantly better and the VRAN achievements possible.

I wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on some of the VRAN achievements for the year and thank the VRAN Board & Mentors and the Friends of VRAN for supporting the initiatives.

These include;

  • VRAN held three ‘Leadership in Rabbit Management’ course, known as the VRAN Rabbit Bootcamp, in Macedon, Alexandra and Queenscliff.
  • VRAN contributed to the Agriculture Victoria Future Directions Program through membership of the Community Pest Management Group.
  • VRAN presented at the National Biosecurity Symposium on our VRAN Bootcamp Program.
  • VRAN Mentors supported over 20 community-led capacity building events with Landcare, NRM groups and local & state Government agencies.
  • VRAN Mentors supported 6 Learning Networks (communities of practice) with online events.

I also wish to acknowledge the new partnership with Biik Environmental an enterprise part of the Taungurung Land and Water Council. It’s our first formal partnership with Traditional Owners and not our last,

Finally, thank you to Agriculture Victoria for their ongoing support and continuous focus on community led action.

I hope you can join us again in 2023, it is shaping up to be a big year!

Regards
Gerry
